Song of the Day: Jane’s Addiction – “Mountain Song”

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, who turns 57 years old today. This is one of my favorites from Jane’s Addiction; it’s the second single off their 1988 major label debut Nothing’s Shocking  but was written in 1985, back before the band had even settled on a name. The song was once rated as the No. 71 all-time hard rock song by VH-1. 2016 is a landmark year for Farrell as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Lollapalooza festival. To think the event was started as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction but is still going strong after all these years. There’s no doubt it’s left its mark on rock music.
