Rock stars have a reputation for eccentricity. They might be plain geniuses when it comes to music, but their personal and stage lives can get as extreme as any reality show. Below are 10 strange facts about some of rock music’s biggest legends.

1. FLEETWOOD MAC’S PLAN TO GIVE AWAY THEIR PROCEEDS
It is no doubt that Fleetwood Mac is one of the most successful rock bands to date. Regardless of the band being around for over four decades, some of its founding members left the band as early as 1970. One such member is Peter Green. Peter Green had suggested that the band should give away all their profits to charity while they survive on bare essentials. This did not go down well with other band members. This saw to it that green left the band in 1970.

2. AC/DC HAS AN INSANE NUMBER OF SONGS WITH THE WORD ‘ROCK’ IN THE TITLE
When you look at record sales and sold-out shows, AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands to date. The heavy metal Australian band is known for their hardcore lyrics with popular songs such as “Back in Black”. What is not well-known is that the band has a total of 22 songs whose titles have the word “rock” included in them. That’s enough to fill two albums.

3. AXL ROSE’S TRAVELLING PSYCHIC
One of rock and roll’s most notorious legends, Axl Rose, was as weird as a rock star can get. Other than collecting Latin American religious artifacts, Axl Rose actually toured with a psychic named Sharon Maynard. His entourage simply called her ‘Yoda.’

4. FIRST ALBUM RELEASED ON THE INTERNET
Rock legend, Prince became the first artist to exclusively release an album on the internet. In 1997, Prince released Crystal Ball. The move spurred change in music distribution channels.

5. BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETS PLAY AT THE APOLLO THEATRE IN HARLEM
Rock legend Buddy Holly and his band The Crickets will forever be known as the first big-name white group to play at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In 1957, at a time when music acts were listened to and only seen when performing, a promoter had booked them assuming they were black. The band went on to bring the house down in an epic performance.

6. BUDDY HOLLY DEATH PREDICTION
Rock legend Buddy Holly died in plane crash at the tender age of 22. His death had been predicted by British producer Joe Meek who was interested in spirituality. A year before the tragic plane crash, Meek warned that Holly would die in February. Meek tried reaching Holly while he was in London but to no avail. True to his prediction, Holly died on 3rd February 1959 in a tragic plane crash.

7. FIRST ROCK ’N’ ROLL SONG TO SELL OVER A MILLION COPIES
Fats Domino was a talented rocker in the 1950s and 1960s. His music prowess and record sales could not be rivalled by any other of his time. Such achievements and records only came to be broken by the king of rock ‘n’ roll, Elvis Presley. His first record, The Fat Man, which was co-written by Bartholomew of Imperial Records, became the first rock ‘n’ roll song to sell over a million copies.

8. A SINGLE CHORD PLAYED BY TEN DIFFERENT HANDS
The Beatles are nothing short of rock royalty. The band is one of the bestselling rock bands to date. An interesting fact about the final chord to their song, A Day In The Life, is that it was played by 10 different hands on three different pianos simultaneously. Lennon, Martin, Starr, Mc Cartney and Evan’s hands produced this work of art that is at the end of A Day In The Life.

9. CHUCK NEGRON’S PENIS EXPLOSION
Rock stars don’t shy away from sex, and their lifestyles lend themselves to fast encounters. Chuck Negron is one rock legend who had copious amounts of sex. His penis eventually became chafed and swollen. He even went ahead to disobey his doctor’s order to not have sex. This led to the infamous ‘penis explosion’. His penis was stitched back up.

10. KEITH RICHARDS SNORTS HIS DAD
Famous Rolling stones guitarist Keith Richards is definitely one of the most talented guitarists in the world. Several years ago, he admitted to a journalist that he mixed part of his father’s cremated remains with some blow, which he then snorted.

The thing with these classic rock legends is that regardless of their eccentric nature, their music remains timeless. It’s music that you can still listen and enjoy decades after the records were first released. These are songs that you can use as a phone ringtone and still enjoy the song each time your phone rings.
