Song of the Day: Bob Dylan – “She Belongs To Me”

On this day in 1965, Bob Dylan released the album Bringing It All Back Home, which rose all the way to No. 1 on the UK charts and No. 6 in the U.S. The album is filled with classics, notably “Subterranean Homesick Blues”, which went on to be Dylan’s first top 40 hit, “Mr. Tambourine Man”, “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)”, and “Maggie’s Farm”. Another terrific song off the album was the lovely “She Belongs To Me” which is the second track on the album after “Subterranean Homesick Blues.” It’s unknown exactly who Dylan wrote this song about — Joan Baez or Dylan’s future wife Sara Lownds are among the possible subjects — but with lyrics like “She’s a hypnotist collector/You are a walking antique”, it’s hard not to be really, really curious.
