Crosby destroyed Crosby Stills & Nash, Graham Nash says

David Crosby “ripped the heart out” of Crosby Stills & Nash, Graham Nash said recently in an interview with Dutch mag Lust For Life (via NME).

“I don’t like David Crosby right now,” Nash is quoted as saying. “He’s been awful for me the last two years, just fucking awful. I’ve been there and saved his fucking ass for 45 years, and he treated me like shit. You can’t do that to me. You can do it for a day or so, until I think you’re going to come around. When it goes on longer, and I keep getting nasty emails from him, I’m done.”

Nash continued: “Fuck you. David has ripped the heart out of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young… How can I not be sad? Look at the music we probably lost. How can I not be sad about that? The truth is, after being totally immersed in me and David and Stephen and Neil’s music, I’m done. I’ve had 10 years of it. Leave me the fuck alone. I need to concentrate on me now.”

Those are strong words from the man who the band calls “Willy,” and “has been described as the glue that keeps their often fragile alliances together.”

Crosby Stills & Nash was an early supergroup with each member coming from another major act: guitarist Crosby of the Byrds, Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield and Nash who played with the Hollies. Way back in 1967, Crosby was dismissed from the Byrds “due to internal friction,” according to the band’s biography, Crosby, Stills & Nash: The Biography.

It’s a sad time for the band. Nash penned many of the group’s biggest hit singles including “Marrakesh Express,” “Our House”, “Teach Your Children”, “Just a Song Before I Go” and “Wasted on the Way.”

It looks like Nash doesn’t want anything to do with the boys moving forward. “There will never be another Crosby, Stills & Nash record or show,” he told Billboard. The bridges are a burning. Let’s hope someone can put them out.

  1. Hate to see this happen as I have been a loyal fan of C,S,N & Y since they began. But, David has been a disruptive force in the band for decades and not it looks like it has all blown up and been blown away. R.I.P. CSN&Y

  2. ego, David, I love your music, you are incredible, but Dave you are such an ass, I saw it in a concert in Houston how you spoke to the fans because someone spoke while you were addressing the crowd. I would think stop buying your music but as for the fool , jerk you are, shame on you you ungrateful POS, and to think, I bought you a beer after one of your shows years ago.

  3. What triggered this response? I know Graham has stood by David for years through thick and thin-what hapened here?

  5. Divorces happen in many circumstances. This CSN one is a shame. Was lucky to see their show at the Beacon IN NYC and few years back. Graham Nash doing well…played the Scottish Rite Theater in Collingswood just last week.. Works so well with Shane Fountain. Cheers!
