Song of the Day: Led Zeppelin – “Four Sticks”

On this day in 1972, Led Zeppelin released the song “Rock n’ Roll” as a single, which had “Four Sticks” as a B-Side. Today we’ll give a little love to “Four Sticks,” which I’ve always thought is kind of an unsung gem off the Led Zeppelin IV album. The song’s title came as a result of drummer John Bonham’s decision to play the song with four sticks instead of two. As the story goes, Bonham had been frustrated as a result of continually trying to get the track correct and decided to take four sticks and hit the drums as hard as he could. It wound up working, and the song got finished.
