Bono called Bowie ‘the English Elvis’



davidbowiemoonlightIn a Rolling Stone Magazine interview from 2005, Bono described David Bowie’s influence on his music as “gigantic,” calling him “the English Elvis.” According to the interview, Bono considered Bowie one of his major musical influences and even put pictures of Bowie on his walls.

“We played ‘Suffragette City’ during that first wedding-band phase,” Bono told Rolling Stone.

U2 tweeted “Planet earth is blue” upon news of Bowie’s death Monday.
