Ride bikes and get ice cream with Bono



bonoBono recently released a promotional video for (RED), an organization started by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise money for AIDS research, announcing the opportunity for U2 fans to donate money and enter a drawing for the chance to get ice cream and ride bikes with Bono in Central Park on World Aids Day.

“Concert tickets, merchandise, the Edge’s rice cooker…that stuff’s been done before,” Bono says in the video. “This is something entirely new: a bike ride with me, in Central Park.”

The winner may choose a friend to accompany him or her on the bike ride with Bono, and will be provided a flight to New York to stay in a 4-star hotel for the event. Fans can donate different amounts to enter their names a certain number of times: if you donate $10, you’ll enter your name 100 times, or if you donate $75,000, you’ll enter your name 750,000 times plus get VIP U2 concert tickets, a meet-and-greet with the band, and handwritten song lyrics.

“Why a bike ride?” Bono asks. “I can’t think of a reason why not. Join me for a bike ride, and really live on the edge.”
