Song of the Day: King Tuff – “Sun Medallion”

Christopher Tahy recalls: One of my favorite pieces of vinyl that I spin has to be the Burger Records-reissued King Tuff album Was Dead. If it’s not the blue and orange speckled pressing that makes me spin it so frequently, it has to be the music. Was Dead was never meant to be a deep album, and that’s why I enjoy it so much. Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff) is a simple man enjoying the simple pleasures of Brattleboro, Vermont. A freak-folker that writes songs with classic early hints of CCR, Dylan, and Buffalo Springfield, it’s these reasons I have to highlight “Sun Medallion.” With it’s classic tones, “Sun Medallion” is catchy, goofy, and biographical. It’s one of the best songs that helps sum up the Was Dead experience. I really recommend that you try and grab yourself a copy of this album.
