Song of the Day: The Black Angels – “Bloodhounds On My Trail”

Christopher Tahy recalls: When I started to get deeper into modern day psychedelic rock, I was lucky enough to come across The Black Angels. Taking their name from The Velvet Underground’s “The Black Angel’s Death Song,” The Black Angels released their debut album Passover in 2006. The album itself burns, flashes, and bends with the psychedelic intensity of a Dennis Hopper acid trip. But, it’s “Bloodhounds On My Trail” that makes you feel as if the dogs have your scent. While the Angels’ last effort, 2013’s Indigo Meadow, was a disappointment, I have faith that they can rebound and recapture the classic essence that made Passover such a underrated classic.
