New Def Leppard album Top 10 in U.S.

Hair bands are back. Brit rockers Def Leppard just surged into the No. 10 position in the Billboard 200 with the release of their new self-titled album. During its first week on shelves, the band moved more than 30,000 units.

You can listen to the first single, Let’s Go, now:

It’s a hard-hitting, head-banger that sounds like it could have come out 30 years ago. Even the lyrics feel familiar:

“The heat goes up as the lights go down,” vocalist Joe Elliott sings.

“The beat goes on when we hit your town
You overload on electric light
There’s magic in the air tonight

“Welcome to the carnival
Welcome to the party
Welcome to the edge of your seat”

Elliott calls the song “a call to arms” and “a classic Def Leppard song. It’s that three-minute pop-rock stuff with big chunky guitars and a big chorus. And it has that swaggering, mid-tempo rhythm, like Sugar, and Rock of Ages.”

Def Leppard is the band’s first eleventh studio album and their first in seven years. You can check out the band’s thoughts on the album below:
