Song of the Day: Cloud Nothings – “Wasted Days”

Christopher Tahy recalls: What started as a home-recorded power-pop project quickly morphed into one of the most important releases in modern day indie punk and indie post-hardcore. Cleveland native Dylan Baldi’s Cloud Nothings released the Steve Albini-produced Attack On Memory January 24, 2012 to universal praise. It was a different direction from his debut self-titled album; it was music that got the adrenaline pumping, music you could feel. The song “Wasted Days” could turn into a self-depreciating, early 20’s whine fest. But, its goosebump-inducing, guitar-charged minutes that could align with what many 20-somethings are feeling. While I doubt that our 20-something demographic is our biggest pull, you can always get your ass kicked by the guitars, and take it from me, that’s not a bad thing.
