Song of the Day: John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers – “The Stumble”

Christopher Tahy Recalls: While there are no words to speak of, “The Stumble” speaks for itself. When Rich posted his John Mayall review a few weeks ago it brought me back to a guitar lesson I once had. Trent, my teacher at the time, pulled this interesting piece out as a way to improve my blues skills. This also led to discovering one of the most under appreciated guitarists of the blues/rock world, Peter Green. Green had the opportunity to fill in for Eric Clapton in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers for three concerts. It was soon after that he had the pleasure of making his debut on the next Bluesbreakers album, A Hard Road. While it’s not “The Supernatural” — which Green is better known for — “The Stumble” is still a hell of a blues number.
