Christopher Tahy Recalls: I hope you have a little under 10 minuets to set aside because once your get past “Green Grass and High Tides” epic opening you’ll have to stay for the multiple solos and vocal harmonies. The final track on the bands’ debut Outlaw, founding member Hughie Thomasson said “It’s about all the rock stars I liked that died had come back and were playing a show just for me. Like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. And eventually more, of course” — HOW BAD ASS IS THAT?
One more thing about the song, as a plastic instrument guitarist, “Green Grass and High Tides” was the final song on the video game Rock Band and boy was it a bitch to complete. There’s definitely some great memories around “Green Grass and High Tides. I hope that you, dear rock nut, feel the same way.
