News: Carlos Santana Announces Supergroup



carlossantanaMusical icon Carlos Santana has announced a brand new supergroup.

The group, called Supernova, will include Santana’s wife Cindy Blackman Santana, saxophonist Wayne Shorter (Miles Davis Quintet, Weather Report), keyboard player Herbie Hancock (Miles Davis Quintet, Jaco Pastorius) and guitarist John McLaughlin (The Mahavishnu Orchestra).

Supernova sound will be of the jazz fusion variety. He tells Billboard that they will “definitely” be recording in the Spring and then a possibly touring Europe and America in the Summer.

During the Billboard interview Santana also says, “This is fun. It’s not work. It’s not a labor…It’s a joy to do all these things and show up and be there.”

Also, to keep Santana busy, he’ll readying his Santana IV project, which reunites members of his 1971-72 band. Expect to hear something out of that by early 2016. For any Santana fan, it seems that good things are on the way.
