Song of the Day: Black Sabbath – “War Pigs/Luke’s Wall”

Christopher Tahy Recalls: How is it possible that a heavy metal song could give someone goosebumps? Well it does help to have Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward making up the band. Black Sabbath has been shaping and influencing musicians since their debut self titled album and follow up Paranoid was released in the early 70’s. Tony Iommi was another huge influence on me personally for picking up the guitar-“War Pigs/Luke’s Wall” was one of my first learned songs. I would obsess over each power chord and riff which are plentiful in every Sabbath song. Tony’s signature Gibson SG also had me hooked. A true rock n roll guitar for a true band of rock heroes. With their last album 13 striking a lot of the right notes, we can only hope their final follow up can do the same. HAIL IOMMI!!!! GET WELL IRON MAN!!!!

  1. First of all, Paranoid is terrific, as is most of Sabbath’s early-mid output.

On one of the Girl Talk albums, he mashes up “War Pigs” with “Move Bitch” by Ludacris. That is also super awesome.
