List: Queens of the Stone Age Primer


While I’ll be turning the ripe ole’ age of thirty this year, I really enjoy the idea of writer Al Kooper’s “New Music for Old People.” I hope that it’s a feature that sticks around and continues to evolve. If you paid any attention to Al’s last entry he featured a band near and dear to my heart, Queens of the Stone Age.

To support new fans and listeners alike I put together a primer that features two songs from each of their six studio albums. What I also wanted to do was dive deeper then the singles and oblivious choices to insight some debate among long time fans. Frontman Josh Homme has been making waves since 1987 with the very influential Kyuss — they too come highly recommended. Also, he’s recorded with side project Eagles of Death Metal, John Paul Jones, Trent Reznor, Elton John, Dave Grohl, Jake Shears, and Brody Dalle. Rumors have stated that plenty of material was recorded during the …Like Clockwork sessions. So if there’s no album on the horizon for 2015, then keep your eyes peeled in 2016.   1. Great list. I would only add “No One Knows” as one of their great songs. Maybe we should start a write-in campaign to get them added to the Top 100 list.

    • It’s true, but I also wanted to go a bit deeper. But, your right anyone getting into QOTSA has to hear “No One Knows.”
