Happy 47th to Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien

obrienRadiohead’s members met at a boys’ school in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Who knows what would have happened if they had girls around? They may have been too busy to make music. Guitarist Ed O’Brien adds much to the band’s ethereal sound with his massive collection of foot pedals. The pedals work magic not just on guitars, but on the band’s keyboards and vocals, too. Happy birthday, Mr. O’Brien. Rock music wouldn’t be the same without you!

Here’s your Radiohead fact of the day: “At the request of EMI, the band changed their name,” Wikipedia says. “‘Radiohead’ was taken from the song ‘Radio Head’ on the Talking Heads album True Stories (1986).” Radiohead made the runners-up list on our Top 100 rockers of all time.
