Skynyrd Drummer Dies in Car Crash

Robert Burns, Jr., the original drummer of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd, died in a car crash in Georgia late Friday night at age 64.

The car Burns was driving reportedly ran off the road near Cartersville, Georgia and struck a mailbox and a tree.

Burns helped form Skynyrd in 1964 but left in 1974 after playing on the band’s first two albums. Burns rejoined the band for one performance at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2006.
